Rebecca Romijn Wants Her Girls to Start Growing Up

For all intents and purposes, Rebecca Romijn seems to live a charmed life: the stunning model has gone from cover girl to a woman who not only acts, but also seems to balance her personal and professional lives with ease and class. With actor husband Jerry O’Connell, she has sixteen-month old twin daughters, Charlie and Dolly. And while the girls are still so young, she’s more than ready for them to start growing up. “I’m so excited to get to the next spot,” she shared with us last week at Huggies’ denim-look diaper event. “I know a lot of mothers are like, ‘Oh they were so little, I wish they were still little,’ but I’m the opposite. I can’t wait for them to start playing hide and seek.”

And while her two daughters may seem like angels to the public eye, she insists it’s not that easy. When posed the question of how she manages a public tantrum with not one but two little screamers, she responded, “If we go out to a restaurant and they start acting out – which happens fairly often – we scoop them up and take them right outside.” Even so, Romijn suspects her daughters are smart enough to know that tantrum removal. “It just ends up being one-on-one time with Mommy or Daddy, and that’s usually what they want!”

As for her biggest lifestyle change?”We’ve ended up changing the type of restaurant that we attend,” she laughed. “You go to family-friendly places; you seek out the places that hand you Cheerios and bananas, crayons and a piece of paper as soon as we sit down.” Sounds good to us.

Rebecca Romijn Tries to Teach Twins Tag

At only 16 months old, Rebecca Romijn‘s twin daughters’ “completely different” personalities are already shining through.

“Dolly is a little bit of a wild child and Charlie is very safe,” Romijn told PEOPLE Moms & Babies at a Huggies Jeans Diapers event in New York City Thursday.

“They’re so active right now. They just literally run off in opposite directions,” the actress, 37, explains.

“When you’re the only one who’s taking care of them, it’s scary sometimes. I’ve been trying to organize it by teaching them how to play tag [but] they’re not quite grasping the concept. We’re still working on that!”

Romijn’s other half, actor husband Jerry O’Connell, “is the best dad,” she says. “He’s great with them. Plus, he’s a big diaper changer. He’s more eager to change diapers than I am. I’m like, ‘Okay great, that job’s for you.’”

One of Romijn’s jobs? Dressing her daughters. “I try not to match them completely,” laughs the actress. “But I do like to coordinate them, especially because I know that they’re going to have a lot of opinions really soon. So I’m just trying to do whatever I can to dress them how I want right now.”

After taking time to work on the now-canceled Eastwick, Romijn is taking time to stay home with Dolly and Charlie as O’Connell heads back to TV.

“Jerry’s show [The Defenders] just got picked up,” Romijn explains. “We’ve decided to tag-team with work right now. It’s really important to us that one of us be home with the kids primarily. He was taking care of them a lot when I was working last year and now I’m taking some time to be with the girls.”

Romijn and O’Connell have previously said that Dolly and Charlie completed their family. Have minds changed since?

“We’re really happy with two,” notes Romijn. “Two is perfect!”

Rebecca Romijn says it’s sometimes ‘scary’ looking after twin daughters

Actress Rebecca Romijn says it’s sometimes ‘scary’ to look after her twin daughters on her own.

The 37-year-old star has 16-month-old twin girls Dolly and Charlie with husband Jerry O’Connell.

She admitted that the little toddlers can sometimes run off in different directions and it can be frightening when she looks after them on their own.

Romijn told PEOPLE Moms & Babies: ‘Dolly is a little bit of a wild child and Charlie is very safe. They’re so active right now. They just literally run off in opposite directions.

‘When you’re the only one who’s taking care of them, it’s scary sometimes. I’ve been trying to organise it by teaching them how to play tag [but] they’re not quite grasping the concept. We’re still working on that!’

Rebecca Romijn: ‘My kids are wild’

Rebecca Romijn has said that her 16-month-old twins Dolly and Charlie are already becoming adventurous.

In an interview with In Touch, the actress, who is married to Jerry O’Connell, revealed that Dolly is “wild”, and that Charlie is following in her sister’s footsteps.

“Dolly always likes to stand on the highest platform she can find. She’s a climber, and Charlie is starting to investigate climbing as well, so I’m praying for no broken bones any time soon,” she said.

“It’s mind-blowing watching them develop their personalities!”

Rebecca Romijn’s Twin Daughters Won’t Know Who’s Older!

Dolly and Charlie O’Connell’s parents are keeping a big secret! Rebecca Romijn and her husband Jerry may live public lives, but their 16-month-old daughters are no different from other tots — except they will likely never know which twin is older! We had the opportunity to chat with the model, actress, and mother yesterday while she was promoting Huggies’ denim diapers. When asked about the personality differences between her darling duo, she said:

This may sound strange, but we decided before they were born — I had a c-section so they both came out at the same time — that they wouldn’t know which one was born first. Technically, one did come out first, but we feel like a lot of twins get to brag —”I was born five minutes earlier. I was born first.” and the truth is they shared the womb. We’re also curious to see if the one who is older naturally takes on that first sibling role. On their birth certificates, they were born in the same minute. It was a conversation we had with the doctor before they were even born and so far it’s worked out pretty well. They are both extremely strong willed and neither of them seems to be in charge of the other at all. They are young and developing their personalities and their relationship with each other so they don’t need to know that information. Maybe when they are much older we’ll tell them.

Rebecca Romijn amazed by twins

Rebecca Romijn is “shocked” at how different her twin daughters are.

The 37-year-old actress – who had twins Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip with husband Jerry O’Connell 16 months ago – loves every aspect of motherhood and takes delight in watching how her non-identical girls’ personalities are changing.

She said: “It’s just shocking, seeing how different they are and watching their personalities develop. It’s better than I could ever have expected.”

‘Obsessed’ actor Jerry also claims Rebecca is a hard working mother who rarely has time off.

He said: “She’s the first one up, last one to bed.”

To celebrate Mother’s Day in the US yesterday (09.05.10), Jerry spoiled his wife with presents and helped the toddlers create their own cards in keeping with a family tradition.

He explained to People magazine: “We have a rule in our family where you have to make cards – you can’t buy them, you have to make them – so I made a couple of cards. I got the girls to hold the crayons and scribble.”

It is not only in their personalities that Charlie and Dolly are different.

Rebecca has previously spoken about their radically different appearances.

She said: “Dolly looks exactly how I looked as a baby and Charlie looks exactly how Jerry looked as a baby. ”

Rebecca Romijn’s different babies

Rebecca Romijn has spoken about her twin daughters Charlie and Dolly, revealing they are radically different in both personality and looks.

Rebecca Romijn is amazed at how different her twin daughters are.

The 37-year-old actress – who is married to Jerry O’Connell – understands why 13-month-old Charlie and Dolly bear little resemblance to one another physically but is particularly bemused by “easy going” Charlie’s nature.

She said: “Dolly looks exactly how I looked as a baby and Charlie looks exactly how Jerry looked as a baby.

“Charlie personality-wise doesn’t take after anyone. She’s really easy going and always smiling, doesn’t cry very much. I don’t think either of us are that easygoing… I mean we are fun but we are not that easy going!”

The twins’ personality differences became apparent during the shooting of a ‘Got Milk?’ advertisement with their mother in September, with Dolly hating the experience and Charlie enjoying the attention.

Rebecca – who previously starred in an ad for the campaign in 1998 – explained to People magazine: “I think this is one of maybe three frames where Dolly wasn’t screaming her head off and that was way more chaotic than the one that I did in 1998. I think Jerry was probably doing cartwheels behind the photographer trying to get them to calm down.

“Charlie was loving it – loving the lights, loving everyone standing around looking at her.”

Rebecca Romijn Wants X-Men Spin-Off

Rebecca Romijn wants to star in her own Wolverine style X-Men spin-off.

The Ugly Betty actress — who gave birth to twins earlier this year — says if she can drop all of her baby weight by 2010 she would love to reprise her role as Mystique for the fantasy hero franchise.

“If they talk to me in a year when I have worked off more of the baby weight, we’ll see, but I’ve still got a couple of pounds to go,” she says. “It’s a great idea but no one’s talked to me about it yet.”

Romijn — who is married to actor Jerry O’Connell — recently revealed that she lost weight by breastfeeding.

“Breastfeeding is the very best diet I’ve been on,” she said.

“It’s like you have to eat 5,000 extra calories a day or you can’t produce enough food for them. So, that’s been fun as well.

“I’m not pretending to be back to the shape I was in beforehand. I still have a way to go.”

Romijn fulfils “fantasy” with ‘Eastwick’

Rebecca Romijn has revealed that she is enjoying playing a witch on new ABC series Eastwick.

The actress portrays Roxie Torcoletti on the show, an adaptation of John Updike novel The Witches of Eastwick and its 1987 film update which starred Cher and Jack Nicholson.

“We’re having a fantastic time, the show’s great. The material is so fun and challenging, I can’t wait to get to work every day,” she told The Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien.

“Playing a witch is a fantasy for a girl like playing a superhero is a fantasy for a guy. Your powers are limitless. I dressed up as a witch for Halloween probably three times when I was a kid. It’s fun.”

Eastwick airs Wednesdays at 10pm on ABC. A UK broadcaster is yet to pick up the programme.

Q&A: Rebecca Romijn Is the ‘Town Slut’, Cougar On ABC’s ‘Eastwick’

The love lives of Rebecca Romijn have always been big news. Her marriage to John Stamos gave her a hyphenated surname for a while, then their divorce brought speculation to the seemingly perfect couple. She remarried Jerry O’Connell in what was big news two years ago. Now they have twins, and she’s a working mom.

ABC’s Eastwick brings Romijn back to work on TV, playing the Cher role in a Witches of Eastwick TV series. Romijn already looks like a vampy sorceress only months after giving birth twice.

At a cocktail party for ABC shows, Romijn was happy to sit and chat with the press about all things Eastwick and motherhood. The show premieres September 23rd on ABC.

Tell us about your version of Roxie on the show.

Rebecca Romijn: It’s based on the movie and the book. Roxie is a Bohemian artist with a 15-year-old daughter who lives just outside of town. She’s the bohemian artist that lives outside of town and she’s got a 15-year-old daughter. She starts having psychic visions, dreams that start coming true, dreams and nightmares that start coming true.

How do you think the town of Eastwick resonates today?

You know, it’s a small town present day. It’s a very sweet semi-sheltered place. It’s as quaint as ever. It’s a town where you see it, you see the images of it, it’s the town you wished you lived in. It’s beautiful, it’s a beautiful place but everyone’s all up in your business.

Are you more small town or a city girl?

I grew up in Berkeley which is a medium sized city, small city.

Have you tried your hand at any of the crafts Roxie does?

I’m a pretty crafty person so I’ve taken my fair share of pottery classes and painting. Yeah, I’ve definitely dabbled. I’ve dabbled.

Do you find the New England town spooky?

No, I have a love affair with them. I think they’re charming and gorgeous and I think they make a fantastic backdrop for a show like Eastwick.

A lot of movies start out in those New England towns.

They’re very picaresque. They’re beautiful.

Then something weird happens.

And then something weird happens, yeah. Because I think the dichotomy of such a beautiful, quaint, safe place where all of a sudden that safety is disrupted is everyone’s worst nightmare.

Are you a sci-fi/fantasy fan? Do you usually read or watch fantasy?

Yeah, yup. Always have been.
